The engineers at Microsoft have been busy listening to feedback from the Beta testers of Windows 7. In a recent blog post by Microsoft, Steven Sinofsky said Windows engineers had received well over 500,000 feedback reports from Beta testers! They attempting to read all of this feedback, and engineers have already made over 35 new changes to Windows 7 for the Release Candidate (RC) version.
Some of the recent feature changes include:
- A new ALT+TAB shortcut that brings up the new Aero Peak feature, which shows thumbnails of open windows and helps customers switch windows easier and with more confidence.
- Increased visibility of “needy windows” in the task bar that require a user’s attention (a bolder orange color, a longer, slower individual flash, and more flashes)
- Increased icon capacity in the taskbar (up to 39% more!)
- Hovering or clicking on an item in the taskbar opens thumbnail views of all windows for that program with those thumbnails visually connected to the taskbar icon
Microsoft engineers are still making tweeks to WIndows 7 (mostly under the hood), so stay tuned for further updates.
