In a video from the SxSW Interactive show this weekend, the guys from Diggnation announced that the new iPhone 3.0 operating system update will definitely feature the much anticipated cut and paste feature. Kevin Rose from Diggnation explains that you will be able to double-click on a word, the word will highlight with the magnifier, and then quotes will appear around the word. You can then drag the quotes to select the entire area you wish to copy, cut, or paste. Pretty revolutionary stuff for the iPhone, but Alex Albrecht was quick to point out that Apple should have included this feature in the original iPhone 1.0 OS.
The iPhone 3.0 operating system, according to Kevin Rose, will also reportedly be coming up to speed with all the features found in the Palm Pre, but who knows what that will include. Rose also states in the video that the iPhone will still lack the ability to run apps in the background as well as handle pictures in text messages.
Will Diggnation successfully predict the new iPhone 3.0 features? They have been right in the past, so I think so, but we won’t know for sure until the official iPhone preview event for the press tomorrow. One thing is for certain, even small news from Apple, like a simple software updates, still commands a lot of internet buzz.

Nice. I have wished for this on many occasions!
