Quark 8.1 Includes PDF Enhancements
Earlier this month Quark announced an update to QuarkXpress 8, version 8.1. This update includes PDF enhancements for printers and customers with advanced PDF workflows. It is now available as a free download to current QuarkXpress 8 users (get it for Windows | get it for Mac). Media with the 8.1 update will start circulating amongst retailers sometime in September.
What’s included in 8.1?
1. This update improves PDF output capabilities and introduces features that make the page-layout process even more intuitive and productive.
2. The new ‘Native Transparency’ mode for creating PDFs which can offer designers faster and more flexible PDF output support and provide greater control over their PDF workflow process.
3. This release also renovates spell checking, adds the ability to paste text without formatting, and improves productivity with Scale functionality. QuarkXPress 8.1 also fine tunes Usability and Item Styles. In addition, it can help prevent errors by reporting faux font styles such as bold or italic.
4. This version readies QuarkXPress for Snow Leopard and Windows 7 compatibility, and the Windows version of this release adds a Welcome Screen.
On a side note, don’t forget that the Quark “One Price Promo” ends September 30th. If you are using version 3, 4, or 5, then you are eligible to upgrade to QuarkXpress 8 for one low price.
