Ready for something super simple, yet oh-so-entertaining? Dustin showed us this fascinating “easter egg” that’s on Google right now. On the Google homepage, just hit the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button. It’s quite captivating. I’m still entranced, and it’s been a good half hour of multi-colored stars shooting off in every direction. Remember the zombies in Land of the Dead and how they get distracted? Yep, I’m a splittin’ image right now. My imminent decreased productivity… may totally be blamed on Dustin. MUWAHAHA.

More proof of Google’s eventual world domination: Google now has its own URL shortener. Released with the newest version of Google Toolbar, “http://goo.gl” type addresses are now available. Read more about it at Google’s blog. Although a free service (through Google Toolbar or Feedburner), this isn’t the freebie I wanted to mention.
Still spirited by the holidays, Google is wrapping presents for you to freely gift away. Just visit Google’s Chrome for Christmas site to personalize the budding browser with your choice of gift wrap and your own greeting. Send each individual a different personalization or save time by sending a generic one to everyone.
Granted, Google Chrome is already free… But the added wrapping paper and greeting specially catered to the recipient – that surely rings in the holiday spirit, doesn’t it? What better way to economically gift away? No postage. Free. Brand name product. Personalized. Useful and practical.

Shopping season is upon us! What’s on your list?
I have to admit that sleeping tends to rank higher on my list these days, but I remember the time when I would force myself to wake up obscenely early on Black Friday; it required a great amount of commitment, mostly fueled by a shopping addiction. All the hard-core bargain shoppers would already be in line, eagerly awaiting in the cold as the clock ticked down to opening hour. When teen-aged store employees neared the front doors with the key, the flood of shoppers put their game faces on and got ready to pounce. As waves of shoppers rolled into the store grounds once that door was even slightly ajar, you notice the mothers taking charge of their pack. She sends each member of the pack out into the wild fast on the tail of a certain deal to hunt down. After each successful kill, members of the pack gather once again eagerly awaiting check-out and strategizing the next hunt.
